A man breaks the world record for pub crawling by visiting 56 bars in 24 hours on his day off.

Gareth Murphy, 29, an IT worker, described the challenge as “the hardest thing he’s ever done in his life,” with the goal of breaking a world record.

An office worker took the day off to participate in a marathon challenge: a world record pub crawl of 56 bars in 24 hours.

Gareth Murphy, 29, drank a drink in each of the 56 pubs before moving on to the next.

Gareth, an IT worker, went on a giant pub crawl in Cardiff, drinking a mix of alcoholic and soft drinks throughout the day.

And he easily beat the previous world record of 51 pubs. “I lost track of how many toilet breaks I took,” Gareth admitted.

“At first, it was minimal, maybe once every ten pubs, but by the end, I think I was going once every two or three pubs.”

“I knew the best location for this was in the heart of Cardiff.””

Gareth, from Caernarfon in North Wales, chose the Welsh capital because it has the highest density of pubs, bars, and clubs in the UK, with over 300 licensed premises in a 0.5 square mile area.

He began the day shortly after 10 a.m. with a lemonade in a Wetherspoons, before continuing until 9.26 p.m., when he reached 56.

When it came to drinks, his strategy was to choose “whichever went down the easiest.”

“However, as the day progressed, I did notice that apple juice went down better than orange juice,” he added.

The bloating from drinking so much was by far the most difficult part. It didn’t help that I couldn’t make myself burp.” It had been a long and exhausting day. “The most difficult thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

Gareth’s favorite drink is “a good, cold pint of Guinness,” but he had to limit himself to only 125ml for this record attempt.
