PM Shehbaz decries deadly assault on Rangers, police by PTI protesters

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the violent attack on law enforcement personnel by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters on Srinagar Highway in Islamabad on Monday night, which led to multiple casualties among Rangers and police officers.

In a strongly worded statement, the premier called for the immediate identification and prosecution of the individuals responsible for the attack. He emphasised the need to ensure that those involved are swiftly brought to justice.

“I strongly condemn the attack on Rangers and police personnel under the guise of a so-called peaceful protest. Such actions, aimed at creating unrest, are unacceptable,” PM Shehbaz stated.

“Police and Rangers are entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining law and order, and these attacks on them are condemnable.”

PM Shehbaz further underscored that such acts of violence were not a sign of a peaceful protest but were rooted in extremism, aimed at instigating chaos and bloodshed for a political agenda.

“This is not a peaceful protest but an attempt to create anarchy. Pakistan cannot afford any form of chaos or bloodshed. Political agendas should never lead to such violence,” he said.
