His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, who recently passed away at the age of 88, dedicated his life to the betterment of Pakistan and the broader Islamic world through various initiatives:
Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN):
As the founder and chairman of the AKDN, he established one of the largest private development networks globally. The AKDN focuses on health care, education, cultural preservation, and economic development, operating extensively in Pakistan and over 30 other countries.
Educational Initiatives:
He founded the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1983, which has become a leading institution in medical education and research. Additionally, the Aga Khan Academies provide quality education across various countries, including Pakistan.
Healthcare Contributions:
The Aga Khan Health Services operates hospitals and health centers in Pakistan, offering quality medical care to underserved communities.
Cultural Preservation:
Through the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, he supported the restoration of historic sites in the Islamic world, including projects in Lahore, Pakistan, such as the Wazir Khan Mosque and the Lahore Fort.
Economic Development:
The Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development invested in various sectors in Pakistan, including tourism, banking, and telecommunications, fostering economic growth and job creation.
