Nora Fatehi’s aircraft remarks land her in ₹3 crore defamation case
Dunes Aviation has filed a ₹3 crore civil defamation suit against actor Nora Fatehi, alleging that her social media comments about one of the company’s chartered aircraft caused reputational damage and significant business losses.
The case has been filed before a Gandhinagar court and is scheduled to be heard by Senior Civil Judge R Agarwal on September 25.
According to the suit, Fatehi recorded videos inside a Cessna Citation CJ2 aircraft while travelling from Mumbai to Jaipur in December last year.
The actor later shared the videos on Instagram, where she reportedly referred to the aircraft using terms including “miniature”, “toy” and “Lego airplane”.
Dunes Aviation alleges business losses
Dunes Aviation has described the remarks as “reckless” and “irresponsible”, alleging that they were made without technical knowledge, verification or a factual basis.
The company claimed that Fatehi’s large social media following amplified the comments and resulted in booking cancellations and a decline in business.
According to the suit filed in April, Dunes Aviation alleges that its bookings fell by 15–20%, while cancellations increased following the actor’s posts.
The aviation company has claimed that the remarks resulted in what it described as “serious reputational damage, loss of goodwill and adverse commercial impact”.
Company says aircraft was certified
Dunes Aviation has maintained that the aircraft was standard and appropriately sized for the journey.
The company said the Cessna Citation CJ2 was DGCA-certified and airworthy and was being operated legally under a valid Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP).
The claims made in the suit are allegations and will be subject to proceedings before the court.
Dunes seeks removal of social media posts
In addition to seeking ₹3 crore in damages, Dunes Aviation has asked the court to direct Fatehi to remove social media content containing the alleged statements or references to the aircraft.
The company has also sought a public clarification from the actor over the remarks.
