Wife furious as husband’s colleague lets slip his side hustle in the office

A woman has been left fuming after discovering that her husband is selling the packed lunches she makes him for work to buy fast food instead.

She explained that they are currently looking to buy a flat together and money has been tight as they try to save as much money as possible to put towards it.

Her husband works in an office and usually buys fast food to keep himself going during the day, but she did the maths and worked out it costs them more than £200 a month simply to fund his lunches.

They agreed that she would start making him sandwiches to take instead as that way he eats more healthily and they save money in the process.

She said to begin with everything was “going well” but she began to realise her husband wouldn’t respond when she asked if he liked the sandwiches she made – but had asked for her to start packing more than two each day as “he was hungry”.

Then it all changed as she wrote: “Yesterday, he came home with his friend and co worker.

“We sat at the dinner table and his friend brought up the sandwiches I make for my husband and how delicious they are. I thanked him then he said the price was a bit much.

“I was confused. I asked him to explain and he said my husband sells the sandwiches I make to his co workers then goes to buy his own lunch from the restaurant.

“I was stunned. My husband denied it. I began arguing with him after his friend left. He said there was nothing wrong with it.”

She told her husband she would no longer be making him sandwiches to sell at work, but he argued back to say that it was unacceptable for her to “lash out” and refuse to make him lunch anymore as technically he wasn’t spending any of their savings on fast food.

When she asked for advice on who was in the wrong, people were left furious on her behalf as one commented to say: “He was profiting off your kindness and labour. He kept that he was selling them a secret because he knew it was wrong.”

A second suggested: “Let him make his own sandwiches to sell if he’s so hellbent on spending money on fast food.”

And another asked: “Your husband is ridiculous. On another note, what kind of sandwiches are you making that he’s able to sell them for a high price? Can I have the recipe?”
