President writes to Imran Khan and Shehbaz Sharif, requesting a caretaker proposal. PM

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi wrote to incumbent Prime Minister Imran Khan Niazi and outgoing National Assembly Leader Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday to suggest a good candidate for the interim prime ministership.

Following the dissolution of the National Assembly on Sunday, the letter was written under Article 224 A (1) of the Pakistani Constitution.

According to the letter, if the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition in the outgoing National Assembly cannot agree on a caretaker Prime Minister within three days of the National Assembly’s dissolution, they would be replaced.
