Three Pakistan Army soldiers embraced shahadat (martyrdom) while fighting militants in North Waziristan district, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media branch.
“Terrorists from Afghanistan opened fire on Pakistani troops in the approximate vicinity of Dewagar, North Waziristan, across the international boundary.” According to trustworthy intelligence assessments, Pakistani military responded appropriately, resulting in severe terrorist casualties.
During the exchange of fire, however, Havaldar Taimoor, 30, of Jhelum, Naik Shoaib, 38, of Attock, and Sepoy Saqib Nawaz, 24, of Sialkot, who had battled bravely, accepted shahadat.
Pakistan strongly condemns terrorists’ use of Afghan soil for anti-Pakistan actions and hopes that the Afghan government will respond.
It stated that the Pakistan Army was resolved to defend Pakistan’s frontiers against the threat of terrorism, and that such courageous men’s sacrifices further enhanced their determination.
On April 22, the ISPR stated that terrorists opened fire on a security checkpoint in Balochistan, killing an army officer and badly injuring a soldier.
Terrorists attacked a security checkpoint in Kahan, on the fringes of Awaran district in Balochistan, according to the ISPR.
According to the report, security forces replied by repelling the attack, and the fleeing terrorists were pursued in the adjacent mountains, where a firefight ensued.
