MARS and Bounty are releasing new versions

MARS and Bounty are releasing new versions of their popular chocolate bars.

Mars Triple Treat, as well as stablemates Bounty, Snickers, and Galaxy, are all getting a makeover.

The new Mars bar is made with date paste, nuts and raisins is being introduced to avoid being placed on the bottom shelf as new junk food laws look to crackdown on foods high in fat, salt and sugar (HFSS).

Mars Triple Treat will be available in Tesco stores next month.

The old-style Mars bar was encased in chocolate, but the new version will just have the base coated with chocolate, leaving the date and nut topping exposed.

Chocolate bars that are lower in calories and include healthy components will not be placed out of sight on the shelves or in less prominent positions, avoiding violations of HFSS laws.
