Holidaymakers going this summer will pay more for using their phone.
Three mobile subscribers will be charged £2 per day beginning today (May 23), as the company reinstates roaming charges when travelling to Europe.
The change applies to everyone who signed a contract with three on or after October 1, 2017.
Existing customers who renew their contracts after this date will be charged the additional cost as well.
The cell network, which has over 9.3 million users, eliminated roaming costs in 2013.
It meant that mobile users never had to pay more for calls, texts, or data in other EU nations than they did at home.
The fee is £2 per day starting on May 23.
In addition, the company is raising the cost of roaming costs for several other places outside the EU to £5 per day.
The daily charge allows you to use your phone as you would at home, with the same data, text, and phone call allowances.
Customers who pay as they go are unaffected by the changes.
Roaming in the EU was formerly free, but following Brexit, mobile phone carriers may charge you for using your phone while on vacation.
Thousands of Vodafone Voxi network subscribers will also face additional roaming costs this month.
If you want to maintain using your cell plan when travelling to Europe after May 27, you’ll need to purchase a European Roaming Pass.
The pass will be £2.
