Ukraine retains control of the industrial zone in Severodonetsk.
We previously reported on Serhiy Haidai, the governor of Luhansk, making comments about the situation in Severodonetsk. Ukrainian troops, he said, had been pushed back to the outskirts of the eastern city.
Haidai has now added to that, saying that more than 90% of the region is “temporarily under Russian occupation,” but that neighbouring Lysychansk is still out of Moscow’s hands – for now.
According to the head of Severodonetsk’s military administration, the fighting is “difficult but manageable.” According to Oleksandr Stryuk, Ukrainian troops still control the city’s industrial zone and surrounding areas.
In contrast to Haidai, he added that the defence lines were holding but that it was now impossible to evacuate those who remained in Severodonetsk.
