After ’10 seconds of stupidity,’ a 10-year-old girl required plastic surgery.
The schoolgirl was left with wounds on both hands after attempting the social media trend during a sleepover, with doctors warning that her recovery could take two years.
A TikTok trend left a 10-year-old schoolgirl with painful burns, necessitating surgery.
The youngster was at a sleepover with a friend when they decided to try out a trend they had seen on the social media platform TikTok.
The trend involved applying deodorant to your hand to make it feel icy cold.
The girl’s friend went first, spraying the can for a few seconds before the other year 5 student took a turn.
The second student sprayed for about 10 seconds while holding the can just an inch away from her delicate skin.
“10 seconds of stupidity has left her with two years of pain,” her horrified mother told.
“They were just messing around with the deodorant can,” the mother of three explained.
When I saw her hands, I couldn’t believe it; I couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry. “She’s effectively given herself frostbite.” Her friend did it first, but not for long, and then she tried it. It was such a shock because she is normally such a sensible little girl, she never gets in trouble, and she isn’t someone you have to constantly correct.
