Imran Khan will remain Prime Minister until a caretaker is appointed.

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan will remain prime minister until a caretaker PM is appointed, according to a statement released by the President House on Monday morning.

President Dr Arif Alvi has already endorsed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recommendation to dissolve the National Assembly under Article 58 (1) of the constitution, coupled with Article 48(1) of the constitution.

Imran Khan will continue to serve as Prime Minister under Article 224 of the constitution, according to former information and law minister Fawad Chaudhry. He had underlined, though, that the federal cabinet had been dissolved.

PM Imran Khan had exhorted the nation on April 3 to prepare for the upcoming general elections.
