The Makhniyal forests of Haripur are on fire.

On Tuesday, wildfires continued to consume plants and vegetation in four different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as firefighters scrambled to put out the flames.

A forest fire that started on Sunday raged on in the Makhniyal range of Khanpur tehsil, destroying trees across several acres of forest and prompting the administrations of Haripur and Islamabad to step in to put out the fire.

According to reports, the fire also threatened First Lady Tehmina Durrani’s home in Makhniyal’s Whispering Pines Resort.

Forest officials and police confirmed that the wildfire that erupted on Kotla village’s private forest land on Sunday spread to the reserved forest after damaging trees.

The fire, which had yet to be put out, had also reached the boundaries of Whispering Pines Resort, a private housing development in Makhniyal.

When contacted, Haripur district forest officer Farhad Khan stated that his teams of firefighters were working hard to put out the fire, but that strong winds were hampering their efforts.

He stated that the fire damaged approximately 80 hectares of forest land in the areas of Kotla, Neelan Bhoto, and Khariyan, which included both reserved and private property, and that the cause of the fire was being investigated.

On Tuesday, wildfires erupted in two more mountains in Shangla, destroying the district’s natural beauty.

The blaze that started on Monday in the mountains near the district headquarters, Alpuri, was put out on Tuesday.
