Prince Andrew was ‘crushed and confused’ by the Garter Day ban.

According to a royal expert, Prince Andrew was left “crushed and confused” after being denied entry to Garter Day after believing he had been given permission to attend.

The royals’ “reluctance to completely remove Prince Andrew,” according to Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie, is damaging and “reflects terribly on the family.”

After a “family decision” to limit his appearance to a behind-the-scenes lunch and investiture ceremony, the Duke of York was forced to remain out of sight during the Garter Day procession.

Andrew remained behind closed doors as the Prince of Wales, Duke of Cambridge, and other senior royals walked through the grounds of Windsor Castle for a church service commemorating the Order of the Garter.

But Andrew thought he was going to take part in the Windsor Castle procession until the Queen informed him that he would not be able to do so in front of the world’s media.

According to source, Andrew’s absence was decided at the last minute, with the Queen willing to listen to the views of Charles and William.

Mr Scobie has now revealed that the news upset Andrew.
