‘Scouse Carlos,’ the ‘most wanted’ fugitive, chased a man into a shop and stabbed him in the head.
Ryan McLean, 37, from Liverpool but now living in Brighton, was caught on CCTV committing the sustained attack by Sussex Police and was later named as Crimestoppers “most wanted’ fugitive.
‘Scouse Carlos,’ Crimestoppers’ most wanted fugitive, has admitted repeatedly stabbing a man with scissors.
Ryan McLean, 39, originally from Liverpool but now residing in Brighton, fled the south coast on February 27 after assaulting his victim in a convenience store in Portslade.
A trawl of CCTV footage captured a man chasing the victim, a 29-year-old local man, into Rishi News and launching a sustained attack, according to Sussex Police.
According to reports, the incident occurred after an apparent chase.
McLean was then seen chasing the victim into the shop on foot before fleeing the scene in the BMW.
After a member of the public dialed 999, the victim was rushed to the hospital with “serious injuries.”
An investigation was launched, and Sussex Police officers recognized career criminal McLean on the footage, sparking a massive manhunt to apprehend him.
According to reports, the incident occurred against a backdrop of “drug dealing, feuding, and an arson attack.”
The charity Crimestoppers offered a £3,000 reward for information leading to McLean’s arrest as part of the public appeal.
McLean was apprehended by Merseyside Police in Dingle shortly before 10 p.m. on April 29 after being on the run for weeks.
He was charged with causing great bodily harm with intent.
“This was a brazen, violent attack carried out in the middle of the day with complete disregard for the general public,” Sussex Police Detective Inspector Neil Phillips said. “Thanks to the tenacity of our officers, staff, and partners in Merseyside Police, we were able to bring him into custody, where the overwhelming evidence left him with no choice but to plead guilty to his crimes,” said McLean.
