Families claim that loved ones were abandoned in nursing homes.
Families claim that residents of care homes were denied their human rights by being separated from loved ones during Covid.
According to a report commissioned by the Covid inquiry in Scotland, severe restrictions imposed in care homes “caused great distress” and may have contributed to some deaths.
A family group called the findings “unsurprising.”
It claimed that families were “locked out” of care homes.
Cathie Russell represents the Care Home Relatives Scotland (CHRS) group, which advocated for greater access to relatives in care homes throughout the lockdowns.
During the first year of the pandemic, she spent only 30 minutes with her mother, Rose Hamilton. Mrs Hamilton passed away in July 2021.
“The,” Ms Russell stated.
Ms. Russell stated: “We are not surprised by the anguish caused to relatives. However, I was surprised that it lacked a legal foundation.” I’ve always thought it was deeply wrong, and it confirms my suspicions that the rights of care home residents were thrown under the bus with no thought given “They are discussing the new national care service, claiming that it is all rights-based and based on human rights. We didn’t have any human rights. There is nothing you can do if the state prevents you from seeing your own wife, husband, or daughter for a year.”
